Go wild and loose on this pure watercolour journey
5 days: 8th-12th July 2019
An experimental watercolour course using mainly transparent colours. You will discover the joys of creative mark-making, including developing and fine-tuning brush skills, making impressions, colour mixing awareness and composition.
Working directly from life we shall focus on developing and interpreting a simple still life with flowers, but with a contemporary shift. Through a process of experimentation with watercolour and the effect different papers make on the outcomes, and through exercises in observation, we shall create unique compositions from which to hatch ideas.
We shall be thinking all the time about the importance of quiet spaces and equally enabling ourselves to identify how important this will become in relation to the focal point of a painting. The ‘learning curve’ in this process will reveal just how versatile the watercolour medium really is, and how forgiving it can be.
